About
the country
Saint Lucia is an island
nation of the eastern Caribbean with a pair of spectacularly sharp mountains,
the Pitons, on its west coast. Its coast has volcanic beaches, places for
diving on reefs, luxurious resorts and fishing villages. The trails in the
interior tropical forest lead to waterfalls such as Toraille, 15 m high, which
falls down a cliff into a garden. The capital, Castries, is a popular port for
cruise ships.
